About Mariana Méndez

Mariana Méndez, from the beginning, developed her work in the creation of pieces that swim between the Design world, the Art and Clothing world. Her works, made mostly of unique pieces, are used as accessories, dressing the woman who chooses them or decorating any interior space they are exposed to.

For Mariana, the three-dimensional and useful object is the starting point from which her research and creative activity are developed. Is there where she reflects the use of the different artistic and artisan techniques studied over 22 years.

Mariana's creative work began in Milan at the age of 23, where she made her first collection of objects in the world of color and the artigianale Loom. Initially found only in the highest fashion and concept stores, where she immediately received the best reception, entering un the most emblematic places as "Corso Como 10", "Takashimaya NY, Joyce Hong Kong, Liberty London, Penelope Brescia, L'Eclaireur Paris, Pellini Milano, HP France Tokyo, Tokyo Beams, etc.

And so collection to collection, Mariana learned to generate rounded volumes born from flat fabrics made in looms developed by herself, combining elastic materials that made possible pieces like "Bivalda" or "Malaquita."

Later on, she integrated the use of lambskin to express the volumes generated by herself from paper constructions. This process made it possible to create pieces that link The Bag surprisingly with the world of clothing. Some of them "èl Vetusta", "la Sedia Zaino / backpack chair," or "la Scarpa."

She has been called on by different fashion or design houses throughout her artistic career to work as a creative or art director, the most emblematic ones: Yohji Yamamoto - Y's, and Mandarina Duck.

Her collection, always connected to the Japanese market, comprises numbered pieces made in limited series that expose a new way of making art.
